The Honey For Haiti Project is a budding organization, housed within Arpin Charitable Group, dedicated to improving the quality of life of the beneficiaries of orphanages who wish to reduce intrinsic costs by producing hydroponically grown crops, raising livestock, maintaining beehives, and converting to clean energy. We raise money to fund these projects through the sale of “Honey for Haiti”, local Connecticut honey in which every single dollar made goes directly into the development of sustainable, income-generating activities at Maison L’Arc-en-Ciel, an orphanage in Kenscoff, Haiti (http://maisonlarcenciel.org). In addition to the sale of honey, we also create custom Tie-Dye T-Shirts, beeswax lip balm, and organic beeswax and essential oil candles.
The Honey for Haiti Project was born at Providence College by students who found a passion while working alongside the children and staff at Maison L’Arc-en-Ciel. The team has enlisted other college students from Roger Williams University, the University of Vermont, and Quinnipiac University to create a network of students able to be enlisted to grow the project to its maximum potential. The Honey For Haiti Project has also combined efforts with Renewable Now, Arpin Strong, and St. George Church in Guilford, Connecticut to make this project possible.
